Volkl MANTRA All-Mtn Powder SKIS 170 cm w/ Marker Griffon Bindings in excellent cond itions. Power Construction: Volkl's longest-running construction, Power Construction utilizes traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. This construction provides tremendous grip, stability, and sensitivity when combined with the Sensorwood core.
Tough Box: Constructed by wrapping the Power Construction wood core with layers of fiberglass strands. Made up of numerous 4 X 4 wraps and oriented at different angles, the Tough Box increases the strength of the connection between binding and ski. Armed Edge: Volkl's proprietary edge anchor system offers an enhanced cosmetic look along with greater strength. The edges on the Mantra are built with Völkl logos as their anchors. The logos are larger than the traditional edge anchor and offer resistance to breakage and pull-out.
Multi Layer wood core: The Multi Layer wood core is made up of two cores - a denser and more powerful core in the binding mounting area and running along the ski's top layer and a lighter wood core as a lower layer. Bonded together to create one wood core and wrapped with the Tough Box construction, this new construction provides precise skiing performance, turning and jumping ease, and an improved binding connection platform. All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they arent necessarily a master of any one terrain. If youre only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want.
All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm. These skis are for the deep days. If you like to find powder stashes at your local resort, go on backcountry missions for the freshest of fresh or heli ski trips to BC, powder skis are what you need to stay afloat. Skis in the powder category are wide and most often have some form of rocker or early rise plus a relatively soft flex. Many powder skis today are versatile enough to handle mixed conditions and harder snow. Whether you charge the steepest lines, hit the biggest jumps in the park or carve with race-like precision, advanced to expert level skis, snowboards, boots and bindings are for the more aggressive rider. In skis and snowboards, you'll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.
This is your traditional tail, designed to have edge contact all the way through the tail, and only designed for skiing forward. This is also preferred for alpine touring, as you can stick the tails of your skis in the snow. The reasons are obvious - excellent energy transmission, light weight compared to other bindings in its class, and solid durability have made the Griffon a fan favorite that finds its way onto more freeride skis than any other 12 to 14 DIN clamp. S gliding AFD (anti-friction device) ensures consistent release with all types of ISO 5355 alpine soles and is less dependent on cleanliness or condition than stationary AFD's.
The Inter Pivot Heel is time tested and offers excellent vertical elasticity as well as reliable release when you really need it. Step into the Griffon this season and find your own sweet spot. Whether youre a progressing intermediate exploring new runs and terrain, or an accomplished rider seeking new thrills, the majority of skiers and snowboarders fall into this level. Intermediate to advanced skis and snowboards may be somewhat wider or stiffer than beginner-intermediate skis and snowboards, usually with a stronger wood core and sandwich sidewall construction.
Intermediate to advanced boots and bindings range from softer flexing freestyle options to stiffer choices built for stability at speed. DIN / Release Value Low.
